I’m a born and raised California gal who moved to the heart of the deep south as a young bride at the age of 22. I didn't even know how to boil an egg correctly when my husband and I first married! During our first year of marriage I became determined that I would teach myself to cook so that I could feed this new husband of mine. I began collecting old church cookbooks from thrift stores and within our first year of our marriage I taught myself how to make many things from loaves of homemade yeast bread and rolls to casseroles and all sorts of desserts. During that time I discovered a passion of mine. Food! I love food! I love reading about it, talking about it, experimenting with it, and of course, eating it!
Fast forward through the past 24 years and you will find that my husband and I have moved numerous times, though always staying within the southern USA, and I gave birth to six human beings during that time! Yes, you read that right. Six! š Life has been a bit crazy to say the least but through it all I found that my continued love affair of playing with food has been a constant source of fun and comfort for me. It didn't matter where our family moved to, we could take the recipes we had come to love with us. For the past ten years I've shared some of our families favorite recipes over on our family blog and I've finally decided it's time for our recipes to have a home all to themselves.
In more recent years I discovered the food network and well....let me just admit up front, right here and now, that I'm a food network junkie. š I could spend hours on end watching those shows! I find recipes in magazines, cookbooks, other blogs, food network shows, and my favorite online resource, Pinterest, and I try them out and alter them to suite our own families needs and taste buds. In other words, I play a lot in the kitchen. It's my favorite room in our home and making food for my loved ones makes me happy. While I enjoy making just about anything that has to do with food, baking homemade bread is probably my very favorite of it all. Join me as I continue to experiment and share my culinary discoveries here on my food blog.
Bon Appetite!
~Jen
